There are multiple notions of the ‘self’. Are these ‘layers’ reffering to one ‘self’ or is there even a ‘self’.
We usually refer to the notion of a self, although in ancient (Greek) times ‘soul’ was a more important definition. This is not equalivant but both share a same structure. The soul was noted as unchangeble and something that defined our essence according to Plato (and other Greek philosophers). The self however is more susceptible in modern days. What is it that defines an essence?
Is the ‘self’ a social contruct defined by different types of layers? These layers then consist out of the different roles one has troughout life. The enviroment has a much bigger role on the ‘self’ this way. What role does biology play?
These are questions that arose during this series.
